Paper Angels
Set in 1915, this award-winning play written by Genny Lim and directed by Victoria Linchong explores America’s historic ambivalence towards immigration through the tale of a group of Chinese detainees on Angel Island, the Ellis Island of the West Coast. Featuring archival footage of Angel Island, a traditional Chinese music ensemble, and Obie Award winner Jojo Gonzalez as a long-time Californian caught in the net of the Chinese Exclusion Act.
Dates: Wednesday, April 29 through Friday, May 1 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 2 at 3 p.m.
